Cookie cutie

Thank you to my friend Naho for visiting from Tokyo last week and bringing this kawaii omiyage (souvenir), a cookie tin full of ‘digestive’ cookies!

Flavours include coffee cream, chocolate and custard.

Soooo pretty! And there are two layers of the cookies. I forgot to take a closeup pic of one of them! Oops. They taste like shortbread but they have some wholewheat flour in them too, hence the ‘digestive’ name. (They must be healthy as well as pretty??) I can’t believe Naho carried these all the way from Tokyo! Naho rules. 🙂

“digestive” is a general name for a kind of biscuit in Europe which initially was intended to be good for your digestion. It’s not really true any more and they’re generally as full of sugar and whatnot as any other biscuit or cookie, so not particularly healthy.

Hi Frances, thanks for the info on digestives 🙂 I was thinking it was 2 good to be true (that they were healthy)! Haha

Sara Mari, yes they’re so cute I want to keep them forever! But as if that’s going to happen 😉

VJ, that’s a good way of looking at it! I will bring some in to work on Tuesday ^_^

Karen, yes indeed, the amount of adorable, super-pretty snacks over there is insane! ^_^

Adrian, yeah, in the photo they look like normal sugar cookies but they have flecks of whole wheat in them. Wikipedia says “rumours exist that it is illegal for Digestives to be sold under their usual name in the United States” !

I can’t believe how cute that cookie tin is!! O(≧∇≦)O
I haven’t seen anything that adorable in a while. I’m not a cookie-eating person, but that container is enough to make me giddy. What a great gift!
